To promote the ancient Hellenic ideals of education, philanthropy, civic responsibility, integrity, and family and individual excellence through community service and volunteerism.
The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) was founded on July 26, 1922 in response to the evils of bigotry and racism that emerged in early 20th century American society and helped Greek immigrants assimilate into society. Today, AHEPA brings the ideals of ancient Greece, which includes philanthropy, education, civic responsibility, and family and individual excellence to the community. Although a majority of the membership is composed of Americans of Greek descent, application for membership is open to anyone who believes in the mission of the organization.
The North Miami AHEPA Chapter was founded in 1963 and spearheaded the founding of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of North Miami which held its first Liturgy on December 19, 1965. The AHEPA 421 chapter in 1989 opened the AHEPA 421 Senior Apartments in North Miami. Our senior affordable housing has 80 beautiful apartments situated within the North Miami community.
